Are Looking For Very Thin Lumineers Veneers

Lumineers are thinner than other veneers.  This means you have a very minimal amount of preparation of your teeth.  They are best suited for light coloured teeth and not dark coloured teeth since it is hard to mask the underlying dark colours.

Also, your teeth need to be fairly straight since they are ultra thin.  If your teeth are crooked then Emax veneers would be more appropriate.

The colour of your teeth is always colour matched to the colour you want on the shade guide.  It is a quick and painless procedure.  See how Emma, Danny and Taiba had lumineers treatment.

“I was quite shy and did not like the brightness of my teeth.  I came to Eternal Smiles because of the work I saw on their website and recommended by another friend.  I have Lumineers and my friends can see the teeth look so much whiter. “

Porcelain veneers and Lumineers: How they compare

Both porcelain veneers and Lumineers can be used to correct the appearance of:

  • crooked teeth
  • gaps between teeth and other spacing issues
  • teeth that look “too small”
  • deeply stained teeth (including stains that can’t be whitened or “bleached away”)
  • teeth with uneven or worn edges
  • teeth that are chipped or cracked

Both porcelain veneers and Lumineers are created in a dental lab that specializes in state-of-the-art restorations, and both can be placed in two visits. Once in place, you’ll care for both the same way, with regular brushing and flossing and routine office visits to make sure your restorations stay in good shape.

The differences between veneers and Lumineers

Although both veneers and Lumineers are used to treat the same issues, there are some big differences. First, although porcelain veneers are thin, Lumineers are a lot thinner. In fact, at 0.3 mm, Lumineers are about half as “thick” as porcelain veneers, which are about 0.5 mm. That may not sound like much, but it makes a big difference when it comes to applying them.

Because porcelain veneers are thicker, Dr. Singh will need to remove some of your natural tooth material in order to “make room” for the veneer so its surface is level with the surfaces of the neighboring teeth. Once that tooth material is removed, it’s gone for good, which means you’ll always need to have a cover for that tooth (either a veneer or a composite covering). In short, veneers are not reversible.

By contrast, since Lumineers are super thin, Dr. Singh doesn’t have to remove tooth material in order to fit the Lumineer to your tooth. That means if you change your mind somewhere down the road and want to have the Lumineer removed, you can. Since no tooth material is removed, Lumineers are “reversible.”

Since Lumineers are a lot thinner, many patients find they feel and look more natural. That’s because the special thin ceramic used in Lumineers is more translucent than the porcelain used in regular veneers, so it tends to reflect light more like your natural teeth.

And that extra “thinness” has another advantage: Since Dr. Singh doesn’t need to remove tooth material, you won’t need any anesthetic during your fitting. With porcelain veneers, Dr. Singh typically numbs the tooth before removing tooth material to avoid discomfort and sensitivity that can occur.

More translucent than veneers

Like traditional veneers, dentists use Lumineers to treat discolored and unusually shaped teeth. They’re smooth and slick to the touch.

Lumineers are thinner and a bit more translucent than traditional porcelain veneers. For this reason, they’re not a good option for people with severely discolored teeth.

No teeth grinding needed

Lumineers are thinner than traditional veneers, so you don’t have to grind your teeth to thin them before application. Your dentist will have a customized set of Lumineers made for your specific treatment needs.
